(Xinhua)    09:38, March 11, 2017

China's procuratorates secured the return of 44 fugitives suspected of involvement in duty-related crimes in 2016, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) revealed on Friday.

The suspects, who returned from 19 countries and regions, include 15 on a list of China's top 100 fugitives in an Interpol "red notice," according to an SPP statement.

The cases involve a total of 550 million yuan (79.55 million U.S. dollars) in funds.

Earlier this month, China launched operation "Sky Net 2017" to hunt down corruption suspects who have fled abroad and recover their ill-gotten gains.

During the campaign, the procuratorates will deepen their cooperation with their international counterparts and improve their capability in catching fugitive suspects and recovering their assets, according to the statement.
