China to complete power grid for border troops by 2020

By Li Yan (People's Daily Online)    18:01, February 13, 2017

China plans to install a power system for all its border troops by 2020, according to an implementation plan for grid construction issued in December of last year.

The task is to be completed in two parts: by first connecting power to 226 technologically-eligible troops before 2018, and then by constructing local renewable energy networks for the remaining areas soon after. The plan also seeks to develop clean and renewable power for border troops, according to a senior officer in the logistics department of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of China.

Work has already been done to advance the process. According to reports, the logistics department of the CMC has held five meetings with the National Energy Administration (ENA) to map out construction plans and set up a coordination mechanism.
