An innovative measure was recently introduced in the northwestern Chinese city of Xi'an. Xi'an traffic police set special parking spaces near 50 public restrooms, local media reported. Citizens are permitted to park their vehicles in these spaces for up to 15 minutes.
According to Ye Changqing, a traffic police officer, the spaces are only for temporary use. Citizens are encouraged to contact police if they notice long-term occupation, and officers will also be on the lookout for misused spaces while on patrol. Ye noted that the practice may be promoted for additional public toilets around the city.
