Chen Faxiang, a woman in her seventies living near a reservoir in Chengdu, Sichuan province, has been obsessed with fishing since she was 13 years old. According to her children, Chen spends most of her social security money on fishing gear, and she never skips a day when it comes to her favorite hobby.

Lin Xingguo, a fishing enthusiast who lives nearby, highly praises Chen’s fishing skills. Lin says Chen captures fish more quickly and in greater quantities than other fishermen and women, perhaps owing to her special bait. Chen enjoys fishing regardless of how many fish she can catch. She often gifts her bounty to neighbors and friends.
