Panicked tourists were stuck in the air for half an hour following a sudden machinery malfunction on the night of Jan. 10 at Shanghai Disneyland. No injuries or casualties were reported.
Some tourists had reportedly queued up for two hours to experience "Soaring Over the Horizon," one of the hottest attractions in the park. Seniors citizens and children sitting in the front row were stranded for the longest time and appeared somewhat emotional, witnesses said. Some tourists were complaining because they missed the fireworks show due to the incident. Meanwhile, staff members explained that they had no idea what the status of the machinery was, as they were just shift workers.
Each affected tourist was given a free pass to "Soaring Over the Horizon" as compensation. Shanghai Disneyland has yet to issue a statement about the incident as of press time.
