On the morning of Jan. 8, over 20 police officers from the Chang'an branch of the Xi'an Public Security Bureau went to a five-star hotel to learn "service with a smile." The trip was scheduled in response to complaints about police officers’ bad attitudes, according to Sanqin Metropolitan Daily.

On Jan. 5, a TV program highlighted these bad attitudes, showing the experiences of citizens who came to the Xi'an police station to handle various affairs. The day after, on Jan. 6, the Chang'an branch unveiled a plan on its official Weibo account, which it promised would improve police officers' service over the course of a three-month campaign.

Li Huixian, chief of the Chang’an branch of the Xi’an Public Security Bureau, told Sanqin Metropolitan Daily, “Our officers cannot necessarily meet the standards of a five-star service provider in their daily work, but a smile from the bottom of one's heart reflects the details of our daily service. It will make people feel welcome.”
