The 22nd Jilin International Ice and Snow Festival and the Tuchengzi Falconry Festival kicked off on Wusong Island beside the Songhuajiang River in Jilin province, both opening on Dec. 21. Dozens of local falconers performed at the festival with their falcons. Falconry, which has a history of nearly 1,000 years, has been listed as an intangible cultural heritage. Falconry skills are often passed down through generations of families.
