PLA demining teams risk death daily

The third large-scale demining operation is ongoing at the border between China and Vietnam in Yunnan province. Compared to the two former operations, the latest one is the most complicated and dangerous yet.

In the previous operations, a soldier named Cheng Junhui sacrificed his life, and 30 more soldiers were injured; 12 became disabled. The current operation is even more dangerous due to the fact that conventional demining methods do not work in this area.

The operation is being conducted by a local demining team of four, who have already worked for over a month. Each team member works for around an hour each day with more than 50 kilograms on his shoulders.
