A formerly-overweight couple in Chengdu, Sichuan province recently got married after both partners achieved a 50-kilogram weight loss.

The woman, Xiaoxiang, and her husband, Dali, both used to weigh more than 100 kilograms. After laparoscopic surgery, they both reduced their weights to around 60 kilograms.

Xiaoxiang and Dali first "met" in an online chat group established by the hospital where they had their procedures for communication between patients. The couple fell in love at first sight during a gathering for the group members in November. After two weeks, they got married.

Dali recalls that excessive eating contributed to his obesity, remarking that he used to eat four hamburgers in one sitting. His ex-girlfriend broke up with him for exactly that reason, and he used to sit inside playing electronic games all day. Now, shopping has become a favorite activity for the couple. Xiaoxiang said she wears a medium in most clothes, rather than the largest available size, and both Xiaoxiang and Dali enjoy trying on clothes in the fitting room.
