Last 40 years witness a shrinking of 1,200 meters for glacier of Yangtze River source

This photo shows the glacier in Guerra Danon, the source of the Yangtze River, on September 30, 2016. The glacier is 5,400 meters above sea level. When the weather is good, its beauty is accentuated by blue skies and white clouds. When the weather is bad, both the sky and the land seem to become one, with hurricanes and avalanches sometimes reported. More than 600 glaciers are to be found here. [Photo: the Beijing News]
