DHAKA, Oct. 11 -- All mainstream Bangladesh media outlets published news on Chinese President Xi Jinping's upcoming visit to Dhaka.

Almost all Bangladesh media quoted a Xinhua News Agency report titled, "Xi to visit Cambodia, Bangladesh, attend BRICS summit in India," which was published on Oct. 10.

Xinhua filed the news item quoting Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang who announced Monday that Xi will visit Cambodia and Bangladesh, and attend the 8th BRICS summit in India from October 13 to 17.

Many Bangladeshi newspapers including The Daily Star, The Financial Express, Prothom Alo, The Daily Observer, The Independent, The Daily Sun, The New Nation and The New Age on Tuesday made Xi's visit headlines on their front pages.

Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), the national news agency of Bangladesh and many other online agencies including UNB, banglanews24.com, bdnews24.com and have also published news on Xi's visit.

Bangladesh media reports have been focused largely on economic aspects and entire gamut of bilateral relations which they say would be more cemented with the Chinese leader's visit.

The Financial Express says the visit, which is taking place three decades after Chinese President Li Xiannian visited Bangladesh in March 1986, will further consolidate bilateral relations.

Xi's Bangladesh visit will also give a strong boost to trade and economic cooperation, according to the media.

According to the Daily Star, during the Chinese president's visit, Bangladesh expects to land pledges worth billions of dollars from him and have already got indication to this effect from the Chinese side.

A package MoU might be signed about the projects that will get finance from China in the next five years.
