Police in southern China’s Guangdong province seized 61 illegally trafficked living pangolins on Sept. 23. This is the province’s biggest trafficking case involving living pangolins in recent years. Pangolins are under second-class State protection in China, and are often smuggled and killed for the “medical qualities” of their meat and scales. (Photo chinanews.com)
