On July 20, Xiangyang Motorized Flood Rescue Team received an emergency notice from Hubei Flood Control and Drought Relief Office, and sent 7 team members driving integrated pump trucks to Jingmen for emergent drainage.

From July 19 to 20, Jingmen experienced heavy rainfall hit. Six offices including Heji and Changtan in Qujialing Management District were trapped by flood. Small villages seemed to be lonely islands in a broad expanse of water for tens of miles around.

After arriving at the disaster-hit area, Xiangyang Motorized Flood Rescue Team members took an assault boat carrying food and bottled water and departed that very night, and two hours later they got Zhangtai Village. They evacuated more than 50 inhabitants to the safety zone at 04:00 a.m. on July 21.

At 9:00 a.m. on July 21, they finished their mission of drainage. But they continued to carry out the rescue work, and took an assault boat twice to evacuate more than 100 inhabitants.
