BEIJING, July 11 -- More countries have voiced their support for China's position on the South China Sea issue "despite pressure," a spokesperson for Chinese Foreign Ministry said here on Monday.

Lu Kang's remarks at the ministry's routine press briefing came after Cambodia reiterated on Saturday that the country would not support the arbitration court's upcoming decision over the South China Sea issue.

Lu said China appreciates Cambodia's stance on the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea signed by China and members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2002.

Angola, Liberia, Madagascar, Papua New Guinea, Senegal, among others, have also expressed their support for China's stance since early July, according to Lu.

Individual countries who are trying to discredit China through the arbitration cannot claim to represent the international community, Lu said.

The Arbitral Tribunal is slated to issue its opinion on Tuesday.
