Accompanied by his father (first from the left), Tian Zhenkai receives platelet transfusions in a hospital in Harbin.
In 2009, a boy named Tian Zhenkai was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndromes, which are blood-related medical conditions with ineffective production of blood cells.
A boy like him needs the support from his parents. However, his mother left her son in 2010 as the savings of the whole family had been used up after one year's medical treatment for their son.
Tian Zhenkai's father Tian Bo earns money by selling nuts. Tian Zhenkai has to live with his grandparents in Zhaodong city while his father is busy selling nuts in Harbin. Tian Zhenkai's father goes to Zhaodong city and takes his son to Harbin to receive platelet transfusions every five or six days. It costs Tian Zhenkai's father more than 3,000 yuan for each transfusion.
In spite of the heavy debts of over 200,000 yuan, Tian Bo has never thought of giving up medical treatment for his son.
Recently Tian Bo knew that his son can be cured as long as he gets a bone marrow transplant. Although the transplant will cost him hundreds of thousands of yuan, he is determined to make enough money to save the life of his son.
