On March 8, 2016, Beijing Capital International Airport set up a female-only security check channel, intended to improve traffic efficiency and protect women's privacy.

A pink notice board, on which was written the words "female-only channel," was hanging in front of the security check channel in the T3 terminal of Beijing Capital International Airport. Security personnel in the line were all female, but all the security procedures are otherwise exactly the same as in regular security check channels.

"We feel more comfortable when our coats and suitcases are checked by female security inspectors. I think this seems like a VIP service for women," said one woman after her security check.

"Female passengers often put many cosmetics into suitcases and need to open their luggage for a check. We therefore added two inspectors to the female-only security check channel, which improved efficiency by 25 percent. The new channel was even 10 percent more efficient than the common security and no-baggage channels. Women who carry children with them also can go through this channel," said an on-duty security officer.

Passengers are gradually becoming more consciousness of privacy protection, explained the head of security at Beijing Capital International Airport. It has been officially decided that there will be long-term female-only security check channels in T1, T2 and T3 terminals.
