Forbes China released the 2015 Best Chinese Mainland Commercial City on Dec. 4. The top 10 cities are Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Ningbo, Wuxi, Qingdao and Chengdu. Guangzhou has topped the list for three consecutive years.

Forbes China has issued the list of best Chinese mainland commercial city for 12 consecutive years based on an index system reflecting urban commercial activity and impacting urban development such as talent index, the index of urban size, consumptive power, passenger transport, innovation, etc. It serves as an evaluation of the commercial environment and development potential of cities in Chinese mainland. Each year, 100 cities will be selected.

In this year's list, Guangzhou continues to rank first. Guangzhou not only has maintained its absolute advantage in indexes for passenger traffic and freight transport, but has seen improvement in indexes for human resources and consumption. The urban competitiveness of Guangzhou is also rising. 

Shanghai and Shenzhen rank the second and third in the list, a swap of last year's ranks. The regional GDP of Shanghai reached 2.36 trillion yuan in 2014, ranking the first among Chinese cities and second among Asian cities. Shenzhen's rank slips to third due to the drops of indexes for freight transport and private economy vitality. However, Shenzhen still ranks the first in innovation index and the strategic emerging industry in Shenzhen has an annual growth rate of over 20 percent, contributing nearly 50 percent to its economic growth.
