Chinese Dama, which refers to a category of consumers described by the Wall Street Journal as "bargain-hunting middle-aged Chinese women" who "keep a tight grip on the family purse and an eagle eye on gold prices", has hit the headlines many times. Now, in the internet financing market, Chinese Dama also take the lead.

The big data released by internet financing company wacai.com show that per-capita investment amount of 55 or above females is 43 percent higher than the overall per-capita investment and is nearly three times the per-capita investment of those born after 1980.

Wang Yihong, a financial analyst of Wacai Research Institute, said that internet financing is a newly emerged industry based on mobile internet technology. The target users were supposed to be young people. Apparently, we underestimated the middle-aged and aged people's demand for financing and their ability to learn new things.

Chinese Dama shows a preference to long-term financial products of 6 months or longer and has invested 13 percent of their capital into them, which is much higher than other age groups. According to Wang Yihong, women of or above 55 usually control the family economy and they are free from the pressures of child raising, house purchasing and other rigid demand pressures. So they tend to invest in long-term financial products and pursue a higher reward.

The investing behavior of Chinese Dama reflects how Chinese people manage their wealth. Most Chinese people lack financial education and start late in money management. Currently the few options for investment have been unable to satisfy people's investment needs. So the newly emerged internet financial products are attractive even to the elderly.
