FIFA’s ethics committee recommended putting the organization’s current president Sepp Blatter on suspension for 90 days. The recommendation came from opening proceedings to investigate an ongoing corruption scandal.
President of European Football Associations (UEFA) Michael Platini is also facing a 90-day suspension, so is former FIFA vice president Chung Mong-joon. Both Platini and Chung are running for FIFA presidency to succeed Blatter in February 2016.
A final decision is expected to be made on Thursday by the investigatory chamber of FIFA’s ethics committee.
