China and Pakistan ended almost one-month-long joint air exercises held in West China on Saturday.
The air exercise, ‘Shaheen (Eagle)-4’, was jointly conducted by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) and Peoples Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF). It was the fourth drill in the ‘Shaheen’ series, and was the first time that three different types of frontline fighter aircraft participated in the exercise, including the J-17 multi-role fighter aircraft jointly made by the two nations.
"The Chinese Air Force is ready to expand the scope and domains of cooperation with the air forces of countries around the globe to jointly address various challenges and crises,” said PLAAF spokesman Shen Jinke in a press conference.
Apart from fighter jets, the Chinese contingent includes fighter bombers and early warning planes, while Pakistan had dispatched fighter jets and early warning planes, according to Shen.
Zheng Qunliang, PLAAF's Lieutenant-General, and PAF's Air Vice Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan attended the closing ceremony on Saturday.
China and Pakistan have been holding military exercises on a regular level in the past few years.
