China and France have vowed to strengthen cooperation between the two navies on a number of measures including tackling piracy.

The pledge was made as part of a meeting on Tuesday between Chinese and French naval officers on Chinese naval destroyer Jinan, which is patrolling waters in the Gulf of Aden on an escort mission.

The 4-member French delegation was from frigate Surcouf. They arrived at the Chinese warship by helicopter.
