SEROWE, Botswana, May 28 -- The Chinese Embassy in Botswana on Thursday donated teaching equipment to a primary school in the country's central town of Serowe.

The embassy donated teaching facilities worth about 26,000 U.S dollars to the Dinokwane Primary School -- the second time following an earlier donation last year.

The facilities include 250 sets of class desks and chairs, blackboards, desktop computers and footballs.

The Chinese government in 2010 offered funding and built the school. It was officially opened one year later.

At the hand-over ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Botswana, Zheng Zhuqiang, said the embassy pays great attention to the development of the school, and is willing to provide necessary assistance to improve its condition within its capacities.

Assistant Minister of Botswana's Education and Skills Development, Kgotla Autlwetse, said the school is "strikingly beautiful in design" and has a good environment for study.

He appreciated the Chinese government's contribution to bettering the lives of children in Botswana through donation to the country's education system, adding that "it empowers Botswana's future through a well-trained human resource."

China has donated and built two primary schools in Botswana with another one in the northwestern village of Maun.
