BEIJING, Feb. 18 -- The Ministry of Culture has ordered its subordinate bodies to beef up supervision on entertainment venues and Internet cafes to ensure safety during the Spring Festival.

Cultural administrative staff will inspect temple fairs and large-scale commercial performances to prevent major safety accidents.

They will intensify routine patrols at Internet cafes at the areas that link urban-rural borders.

They will intensify patrols around railway stations and wharfs to confiscate products that are deemed pornographic or violent.

Spring Festival, or the Chinese Lunar New Year, this year falls on Feb. 19.
