Shao Ting shines in WCBA All-Star Game

NANJING, China, -- Beijing forward Shao Ting became the Most Valuable Player with 24 points in Saturday's Chinese Women's Basketball Association (WCBA) All-Star Game here.

Shao led the North All-Star team to beat the South team 111-96. The 25-year-old forward also had a brilliant performance in the World Championship last summer, which gave Chinese fans a deep impression.

A 11-0 run in the third quarter helped the North team lead by as many as 15 points before the final period. The South team failed to fight back in the final quarter, only seeing their opponent to revenge for last year's All-Star loss.

Shao Ting and Brittney Griner led the North team with 24 points apiece while Sylvia Fowles contributed a match-high 25 for the South team. As along with her 12 rebounds, Griner also completed three dunks to amuse the audience.

"I really enjoyed the All-Star game today," said Shao Ting. "It's a good chance to meet new and old friends. And it's also a good chance to play with some of the best players like Maya Moore and Griner." [ Maya Moore, the Invincible Queen, snatched in four money balls to win the three-point shootout by 21 points.

Ji Yanyan of Heilongjiang used 29.66 seconds to beat Zhao Shuang and Peng Shiqing in the skills challenge.
