BEIJING, January 7 (People’s Daily Online) - People-to-people exchange will promote bilateral relationship between China and Costa Rica, said President of Costa Rica Luis Guillermo Solis during his visit to a university in China.
After the Confucius Institute jointly constructed by Renmin University of China (RUC) and University of Costa Rica was established in 2009, cultural exchanges between the two countries have become more frequent. More than 20 Costa Rican students have received training at RUC.
Language is the tool for communication. Solis said that it is difficult to learn Chinese but Chinese is a beautiful language.
Chinese people firstly set their foot in Costa Rica in 1800s, involving in railway construction works. According to Solis, Chinese people bring trade and advanced productivity to his country and inject energy to Costa Rican economy.
On the same day, RUC conferred on Solis the degree of honorary doctorate in law. Solis is on a state visit to China from Jan. 4-10 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
