The case of an 8-year-old Chinese girl who was reportedly abused by her foreign adoptive father has sparked widespread public concern.
The girl, identified as Phoebe, is reportedly one of the 11 orphan children that the man has been raising in Beijing. Unfortunately, the girl stopped breathing last night.
Before death, Phoebe underwent three surgeries for duodenal obstruction and kidney damage injuries that doctors said were caused by external blunt force.
The other 10 Chinese children were sent to Beijing Rescue Protection Center and their life as illegally adopted children came to an end. The foster father, who is identified as Ray Wigdal, received a police inquiry at a police station recently, a China National Radio report said.
Since 2004, Wigdal has adopted 11 Chinese kids with birth defects who were abandoned by their biological parents and has been posting pictures of the children online (www.rayschildren.org) in order to solicit donations.
