"It's hard to find a millennium tree in the mountains, and it's rare to have a 100-year-old person," as a traditional saying in China goes. Wang Deshun, who lives in Xixiaoping Village, Nanlou Town, Shanxi Province, ushered in his 104th birthday with more than 50 children and hundreds of relatives recently.
Wang Deshun was born in a poor family on August 17, 1910. He liked martial arts in his childhood. When he was 17 years old, he became a soldier in army. Then he learned to practice Hongquan from a Taoist master with unique skills. When he retired from the army at the age of 21, he had redoubtable Kung fu.
There was a big walnut tree in the courtyard. Wang practiced martial arts by striking the tree as the sandbag every day in several years.
Benefited from the unique Kung fu, Wang Deshun had been selected as the head of the anti-Japanese martial arts association in the Village in 1938. He organized the villagers to fight against Japanese invaders by putting up posters and burying landmines. After the founding of New China in 1949, Wang insisted on practicing martial arts and nurtured many apprentices.
He has been frugal all the time. This 104-year-old birthday party is the most ceremonious one in his whole life.
