China Fighting Against Flood

Water Level at Wuhan Hits New High

The water level of the Yangtze River at this capital of central China's Hubei Province hit 28.67 meters at 17:00 July 20, the third record high in history.

The Yangtze River Water Conservancy Committee predicted that the level will continue to rise, to hit 28.95 meters by July 23.

In the meantime, the biggest flood peak this year has entered the province. But, fortunately, the dykes on the river are still safe, and the situation is less dangerous than it was last year, a local official said. (Xinhua)
