Guangdong Cracks Down on Illegal Publications
South China's Guangdong Province has confiscated nearly 10 million illegal publications over the past two months, police said. The province has sent 14,000 officials to cities and counties across the province in the campaign against illegal publications. To date, officials have closed 862 shops, arrested 68 people, and seized 9.8 million illegal books, periodicals, CDs, and video tapes. The publications involve obscene, pornographic and superstitious materials. In the cities of Guangzhou and Dongguan, local police closed down the printing of illegal Falun Gong publications and seized 3. 64 million such books and other items.
