China Bans Falun Gong

Scientific Circles Call for Punishing Cults

Scientific and technological circles said that participation in the banned cult Falun Gong should be severely punished according to law on November 10 . "With the exposure of the evil nature of Falun Gong and its founder Li Hongzhi, we've all come to know the dangers they pose to society," said Yu Qin, an engineer at the China Corporation of Natural Oil and Gas.

He noted that some of Falun Gong's core members are still organizing illegal gatherings and causing unlawful incidents even after the government outlawed the cult months ago.

"This kind of situation should not go on forever," Yu said, adding that the government should use the law to deal the cult a fatal blow.

Engineer Zhang Jun from the Jitong company in Beijing said effective measures must be taken to stop Falun Gong from harming the society and fooling the innocent people.

Scientific and technological promotion and education should be further strengthened across the nation, Zhang said.

Experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China's top scientific research institution, stressed that the country's scientific and technological circles should play a leading role in exposing the evil nature of Falun Gong and promoting science in society.
