China Bans Falun Gong

Exposure of Li Hongzhi, a Serious Political Struggle

The influential Chinese bimonthly magazine Qiushi (Seeking Truth) said in its seventh special issue that China's ongoing struggle against the Falun Gong organization is an ideological and political struggle which has a bearing on the fundamental faith of Communists.

Falun Dafa, or Falun Gong, disseminates idealism and theism, negates all scientific truth, demands that practitioners act in accordance with the doctrine of Li Hongzhi, and prohibits them from following other theories, said a commentary in the bimonthly published in Beijing Saturday.

In other words, Falun Dafa forbids people from believing in any scientific truth, including Marxism. This obviously violates China's Constitution and poses a grave challenge to the fundamental guiding ideology of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the government, it noted.

Facts have proven once again that if Marxism doesn't occupy the ideological sphere, non-Marxism or anti-Marxism will be bound to seize it. So long as one fails to grasp Marxist scientific outlook and methodology, it is impossible for one to have firm ideals and faith, distinguish right from wrong, the beautiful from the ugly, or the benevolent from the evil, and then one is bound to deviate from the principle of Party spirit, the commentary said.

It is clear that Falun Gong has attained its goal of infiltrating the minds of some Party members and cadres by taking advantage of a lack of political sensitivity to transform their world outlook. When they start practicing Falun Gong, their ideals and faith will waver, and they will deviate from Marxism and Party principles.

It is an imperative task to strengthen ideological and political education on the Marxist outlook, the commentary said.

Every Communist should have a clear stand, recognize the political nature and serious harm of Falun Gong, and be identical with the Party Central Committee ideologically, the commentary said.

The aim of Li Hongzhi's doomsday preaching is to whip up public opinion for achieving his political ambition. He said that no government can solve current problems, only Li Hongzhi can solve them because he is the master of the universe. These remarks negate social reality and show a strong anti-government and anti-society tendency, said the commentary.

In recent years, Falun Gong organizations have spread rumors and created incidents which jeopardized social stability. Falun Gong's sabotage of social order is a disturbance by an organized force. If it is not curbed forcefully and in a timely manner, such anti-society force will shake the power basis of our socialist country, it stated.

Falun Gong has been spread abroad as well as in China. It expands its influence through the media and the Internet in a bid to exert pressure on China from hostile forces in other countries.

The issue of Falun Gong has a profound social and international background. It is a political struggle between the CPC and domestic and international hostile forces to win over the masses. "We will make a historic mistake if we fail to understand the nature of this struggle," the commentary concluded.(Xinhua)
