China Bans Falun Gong

China Confiscates 1.55 Million Falun Gong Publications

     China has confiscated 1.55 million volumes of illegally published books and materials on Falun Gong since the central authorities banned it on July 22.

     The Beijing Municipal Government on July 28 destroyed around 300,000 confiscated publications and other materials on Falun Gong.

     At the same time, a number of involved publishing houses, wholesalers and retail outlets have been closed down.

     In Tianjin Municipality, cultural officials have confiscated 80, 000 such books and materials of 22 varieties over the past week.

     According to a cultural official, Guangdong, Shandong, Hebei, Shanghai, Liaoning, Sichuan and Shaanxi will also take actions to destroy such books and materials on July 29 to ensure the normal order and the healthy development of the cultural markets. (Xinhua)
