People's Daily Calls for Proper Handling of Falun Gong Practitioners
"People 's Daily" publishes a commentator's article today calling for properly dealing with the Falun Gong issue.
The majority of Falun Gong practitioners who have broken away from the illegal organization should be united and educated, the article says, emphasizing that policies must be strictly observed as the nationwide fight against Falun Gong goes on.
Every Chinese shoulders the responsibility to help the practitioners realize the political nature and the serious harm of Li Hongzhi and the Falun Dafa he concocted, and aid them to uphold materialism against idealism, and adhere to atheism as opposed to theism.
We should also make an effort to pull the practitioners out of the absurd world created by Li Hongzhi, help them shift their attention to the domestic and international situation and issues, to the future of their motherland and the Party, and to the ongoing opening and reforms and the socialist modernization drive, the article notes.
The government policies call for uniting and educating the majority of Falun Gong practitioners, to ensure the ideological and political struggle against Falun Gong roll ahead in a sound way.
And a clear line of demarcation needs to be drawn between the ordinary practitioners and the core organizers and propagandists of Falun Gong; between ordinary core members and the small number of behind-the-scenes plotters and organizers who harbor political ambitions; between those people who have realized their mistakes and wish to correct them, and those diehards; between those who did wrong before the central authorities' ban, and those who did so afterwards, the article points out.
Proper handling of the Falun Gong issue will help eliminate hidden dangers, maintain stability, and push ahead the reforms, opening up and socialist modernization drive, the article says. (Xinhua)
