China Bans Falun Gong

Falun Gong Founder Cannot Go Without Medicine

Invoices showing medicines taken by Li Hongzhi, founder of the illegal Falun Gong organization, have been found in Changchun City, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province.

The 48 invoices for buying medicines from hospitals totaled 129. 60 yuan and were submitted by Li Hongzhi himself for reimbursement when he was working in the Changchun Foodstuff and Edible Oil Supply Corporation from 1982 to 1992.

The invoices showed that Li Hongzhi went to seven hospitals to see doctors during that period, including the Changchun City Hospital, the People's Hospital of Changchun City and the Changchun Chaoyang District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Li began to teach and propagate Falun Gong (Wheel of Law) in May 1992 and then set up the "Falun Dafa Research Society" in Beijing. One of his fallacies is that Falun Gong practitioners should not take medicine even if they are ill.

Cheated and confused by Li's theories, some practitioners refused to go to hospital for medical treatment when they suffered illnesses, and a number of them thus died.

Last week the Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs announced that Li Hongzhi's Falun Gong organization is illegal and is therefore banned. (Xinhua)
