CPPCC Members Support Falun Gong Ban
The members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's highest advisory body, on July 24 expressed their support for China's policy decision to ban Falun Gong.
At a forum called by the CPPCC National Committee, members of the CPPCC National Committee and of its standing committee held that the decision made by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party conformed to the will of the people.
The decision is of far-reaching significance for maintaining social and political stability and ensuring the healthy development of reform, opening-up, and the socialist modernization drive, they said.
He Zuoxiu, a scientist who consistently opposes pseudoscience, said that the Falun Dafa Research Society is an illegal organization, not only because of its failure to register itself in accordance with the law, but also for its illegal activities.
He said that Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Gong, is not only a scientific illiterate, but also a person with wicked ambitions.
Li fabricated wild tales about his Falun Gong to cheat people by calling it superior to Buddhism and the highest standard of science, he said.
By exploiting people's desire to keep fit, he attempted to realize his political objective, he said.
Some of the members noted that the activities of the Falun Gong organizations have disturbed social stability and impaired the people's interests.
Chen Chunlong said that Falun Gong disturbed social security, swindled money and resulted in many deaths among its practitioners, noting that Falun Gong has had an unfavorable impact on society and should be banned.
The attendees at the forum stressed that the CPPCC at all levels should enhance their ties with the people and publicize Party and State policies, so as to help the people know the harmfulness of Falun Gong. (Xinhua)
