China Bans Falun Gong

Communist Youth League Members Told Not To Practice Falun Gong

The Communist Youth League of China has forbidden its members from practicing Falun Dafa, also called Falun Gong.

A circular from the Central Committee of the league says that for a time the Falun Gong organization has spread in some localities and a few league members have practiced Falun Gong.

As the Ministry of Civil Affairs has banned the Research Society of Falun Dafa and the Falun Gong organization under its control after deeming them to be illegal, Communist Youth League members should see clearly the political nature of Falun Gong and the harm it has caused, and must not practice it, the circular says.

The Communist Youth League is a mass organization of the advanced youth led by the Communist Party, an assistant to and the reserve force of the Communist Party and its members must firmly believe in Marxism, the circular says.

The circular asks the Communist Youth League committees at various levels to help their members understand that practicing Falun Dafa runs contrary to the nature and purpose of the League.

The circular says that there needs to be an education drive against Falun Gong so that Communist Youth League members will receive a lesson in Marxist materialism and atheism and increase their political insight and capability to tell right from wrong.

The circular asks the leagues committees at various levels to help members who practice Falun Gong change their attitude and to break ties with the Falun Gong organization.

For League members who practiced Falun Gong, but break their ties with the Falun Gong organization voluntarily, no questions will be asked, according to the circular.

Members who have been involved in organizing and spreading Falun Gong ideas will not be investigated or held responsible if they break ties with the organization on their own and expose the problems of Falun Gong.

League members who are key members of Falun Gong and have committed serious mistakes will be subject to disciplinary action, the circular says. But those who repent or render meritorious services will have their punishment reduced or will not be investigated.

Those who refuse to correct their mistakes after repeated education will be asked to give up their league membership, and those who refuse to do so voluntarily will be expelled from the league, the circular says.

A very few behind-the-scenes plotters and organizers who intentionally caused disturbances with political motives should be resolutely cleared out of the league, according to the circular. (Xinhua)
