Civil Servants Forbidden to Practice Falun Gong
The Chinese Ministry of Personnel Friday made public a circular forbidding government civil servants to practice Falun Gong.
The circular said that in the past years, a small number of civil servants have been practicing Falun Dafa, concocted by Li Hongzhi, and some of them even participated in illegal gatherings under the pretext of "spreading the Falun Dafa," which disturbed social order.
"These activities violate the discipline regarding civil servants, damage the image of civil servants, harm the national and the people's interests, and have had a bad impact on society and should be stopped firmly," said the circular.
The Ministry of Civil Affairs Thursday announced that it decided to ban the Research Society of Falun Dafa and the Falun Gong organizations under its control since it deemed them to be illegal. The Ministry of Public Security Thursday also issued a notice prohibiting all activities in support of Falun Gong.
In accordance with the "Circular of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Forbidding Party Members to Practice Falun Dafa (Falun Gong)" and "Provisional Regulations on Government Civil Servants," the Personnel Ministry's circular called on civil servants to take a clear-cut stand in opposing the malicious fallacies advocated by Falun Dafa.
Civil servants should strictly abide by discipline and earnestly follow the Provisional Regulations on Government Civil Servants, and are not allowed to practice Falun Dafa, the circular said.
The circular also called for enhanced management of incumbent and retired civil servants. (Xinhua)
