Chinese Military Supports Falun Gong Ban
The People's Liberation Army (PLA) gave its firm support to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) July 23 in its decision to outlaw Falun Gong.
The PLA's Headquarters of the General Staff, General Political Department, General Logistics Department, and General Armaments Department said that they will carry out the policy decisions of the CPC Central Committee with Jiang Zemin at its core and of the Central Military Commission and devote themselves to the struggle against Falun Gong.
The PLA started a study campaign for all personnel after they watched TV programs, or listened to broadcasts or read newspapers about the central government's decision.
The PLA told military personnel to take the lead in eliminating the influences of Falun Gong, to encourage healthy trends and scientific thought and to maintain social stability.
It said that the CPC Central Committee's circular and other documents from the ministries of civil affairs and public security have exposed Falun Dafa of Li Hongzhi and Falun Gong, which he controls.
PLA personnel in other parts of the country said they are determined to support the CPC Central Committee decision on Falun Gong. They said the decision is the will of the people, the Party, and the military.
The PLA has called for a campaign to study Marxism and to struggle against idealism, feudal superstitions, and pseudoscientific ideas in accordance with the law.
The four PLA departments said that their retired officers also studied the CPC Central Committee's circular that forbids Party members from practicing Falun Gong.
The retired army officers were reported as saying that they will study dialectical materialism and historical materialism as well as scientific theories, while taking an active part in the struggle against actions that harm China's reforms, development, stability, the socialist system and Party leadership.
