Non-Communist Parties, Figures Support Falun Gong Ban
Leaders of China's eight non-Communist parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), as well as some leading personages without party affiliation, have voiced their support for the nationwide ban on Falun Gong imposed by the Chinese government Thursday.
After hearing Wang Zhaoguo's report on behalf of the CPC Central Committee, the leaders of the non-Communist parties and the ACFIC and some leading personages without party affiliation held a forum Friday afternoon.
The CPC Central Committee has made an absolutely correct and extremely timely decision in handling the issue of Falun Gong, the participants agreed.
Wu Jieping, chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiu San ( September 3) Society, said that the Falun Gong issue has gradually become a social problem which can cause enormous harm, and that with a tight organizational system, the Falun Gong bodies have turned out to be "subversive organizations with great sabotage capabilities".
"Our struggle against Falun Gong is not only a struggle between materialism and idealism, but also a serious political struggle," he stressed.
Wang Guangying, honorary chairman of the ACFIC, pointed to the fact that nowadays there are some so-called "masters" who, under the cover of "scientific research", "carrying forward traditional national culture" and "promoting health through Qigong exercises", are actually spreading feudal superstition. They have earned some people's blind adoration by means of cheating, and Li Hongzhi is just one of them.
"We must take a clear-cut stand in opposing to these people, and make use of the ideological weapon of Marxist dialectic materialism and historical materialism to strip the mask from all pseudo-sciences and any other idealistic trickery," he urged.
Qian Weichang, honorary chairman of the Central Committee of China Democratic League, said that pseudo-sciences are becoming rampant in the country, and their activities are beyond tolerance.
He said that Falun Gong is not a religious problem, but a political problem.
Cheng Siwei, chairman of the Central Committee of the China Democratic National Construction Association (CDNCA), said that the Falun Gong organization has a tight structure and it aims at challenging the authority of the CPC and the central government, noting, "We can not overlook it."
He urged all members of the CDNCA to resolutely oppose Falun Gong and resist it since Falun Gong is against the CDNCA's program.
Zhang Kehui, chairman of the Central Committee of Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League, said that Falun Gong has brought about harm to society and its activities have undermined stability and obstructed the development of China's reforms and opening up.
He called on the members of his league to make efforts to promote China's stability, to eliminate superstitions and to uphold science.
Among those who delivered speeches at the meeting to support the CPC Central Committee's decision on Falun Gong, were Luo Haocai, chairman of the Central Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party, Mei Xiangming, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the China Association for the Promotion of Democracy, Sun Fuling, honorary vice-chairman of the ACFIC, Yao Jun, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party, Sun Peikang, vice-chairman of the Revolutionary Committee and the Chinese Kuomintang, and non-party figure Ye Lang.
They said that Falun Gong is a completely illegal organization spreading feudal superstitions and pseudo-science under the guise of Qigong exercises. (Xinhua)
