Singapore PM Meets Tang Jiaxuan
Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong on July 27 met with Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan who is attending the ASEAN Regional Forum and other related meetings.
Tang explained the Chinese government's principled stand on the Taiwan question and briefed Goh about the recent developments in Sino-US relations.
Tang expressed his appreciation for the Singapore government's adherence to the "one China" policy and said he is satisfied with the development of Sino-Singapore relations. He also invited Goh to visit China again.
Goh said cross-Straits relations are entirely ones which fall into the internal affairs of China.
Lee Teng-hui's "the two-states theory" has brought about negative consequences to the regional situation and also aroused the concern of many countries in the world, Goh said.
Like most countries in the world, Singapore recently reaffirmed its adherence to the "one China" policy, said Goh.
Goh also said that he wishes to visit China again. (Xinhua)
