Chinese, Japanese FMs Meet in Singapore
Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan and his Japanese counterpart Masahiko Komura Monday discussed issues concerning Sino-Japanese relations, the regional situation and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF).
During a meeting with Komura here, Tang said Japanese Prime Minister Keizo Obuchi's recent official visit to China achieved positive results.
China hopes that on the basis of Chinese President Jiang Zemin's successful visit to Japan last year and Obuchi's visit to China, both sides will adhere to the political consensuses reached between them on many occasions and reaffirmed during these visits on a number of important issues, so as to maintain the favorable momentum of the development of Sino-Japanese relations, Tang said.
Komura said the development of the two countries' relations is gaining momentum.
He expressed the hope that the two sides will make efforts to implement the consensuses, as well as many cooperation projects agreed on during the visits.
Both Tang and Komura are here to attend the ARF, which opened later in the day, as well as the Post-Ministerial Conference on July 27-28.
