Pyongyang Rejects Lee Teng-hui's "Two-States" Statement

PYONGYANG, August 4 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Wednesday criticized Lee Teng-hui's "two states" statement, saying that the DPRK supports China's stance on peaceful reunification of the country.

In an interview with the Korean Central News Agency, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said that his country supports the efforts of the Chinese Communist Party and government to seek peaceful reunification of the country under the principle of "one China" and "one country, two systems."

Lee Teng-hui's definition of the cross-Strait relations as " state-to-state or at least special state-to-state relations" has drawn condemnation from all the Chinese people and the countries the world over, the spokesman said.
