Korean Chinese Condemns
Lee's Separatist Remarks
SEOUL, July 17 (Xinhua) -- The plot to split the motherland by Lee
Teng-hui, leader of the Taiwan authorities, was doomed to failure, said a joint
declaration released here Friday after a rally attended by representatives of Korean
Chinese.
Korean Chinese from Seoul, Inchon, Taejon and Kangwon-do said in the declaration that in
the light of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, Lee's so-called "special
state-to-state" remarks run counter to the trend of peace and the aspiration of a
united motherland expressed by sons and daughters of the Chinese people around the world.
Meng Zi-bin, a senior leader of the Korean Chinese Community, said that there is only one
China and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. Lee's separatist remarks intended to
provoke tension across Taiwan Straits. His recent attempt to split China is a dangerous
move against all patriotic Chinese and of course, dooms to failure, he added. |
