Int'l Conference Held for Improving Business Management in China

More than 120 scholars and experts from China, Canada and Sweden have participated in the 1999 International Conference on Improving Management through University-Industry Partnership to discuss management in China's telecommunications, energy and financial sectors.

The conference, which has already ended in Dalian, a coastal city in northeast China's Liaoning Province, was jointly organized by Canada's University of Mcgill and China's Dalian Institute of Science and Engineering.

With the theme of "China's Business Management in the 21st Century -- Chances and Challenges," the conference was part of a series of annual meetings on the China-Canada University-Industry Partnership Program (CCUIPP).

The CCUIPP is an international cooperation program reached between Canada's International Development Agency and China's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. It is aimed at promoting economic reforms and improving management in China's telecommunications, financial and energy sectors.

It also intends to strengthen cooperation between universities of China and Canada and their industries, to encourage universities better serve China's telecommunications, financial and energy industries and to raise their management level.
