China Hosts Intl. Business Seminar

Tne international business seminar was held Monday Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Dozens of Chinese economists and some 102 representatives of 70 world-famous enterprises from 16 countries attended the seminar.

They discussed social and economic development in Chengdu and other cities in western China, and overseas business people agreed that the booming, opening and large potential market in these cities has attracted more and more international investors.

Representatives from many prestigious companies including IBM, the Bank of Paris, and General Electric said they are confident about future investment in Chengdu. They also held talks on investment and cooperation with local firms in the fields of software and electronic information, traditional Chinese medicine products, silk goods, and the beverage and food industry.

At the meeting, Cit-Alcatel, a French telecommunication giant, signed a contract on developing a GSM network involving an investment of 6.8 million-US dollars.
