More Overseas Tourists Visit China

BEIJING, August 3 (Xinhua) -- The number of overseas tourists to China jumped a year-on-year 19.6 percent in June to hit 34.7 million.

Of the total, 693,000 are foreigners, up 20.2 percent, 4.94 million from Hong Kong and Macao, up 19.4 percent, and 210,000 from Taiwan, up 23.5 percent, according to the latest statistics from the National Tourism Administration.

During the period, Asian tourists to China surged by an average 28.9 percent, with Indonesian visitors surging 110.6 percent. And tourists from 11 of China's 15 major overseas tourist markets including Japan, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Germany and France, witnessed two-digit growth.

In June, China earned 1.194 billion US dollars from overseas tourism, up 21.3 percent from the same month last year.
