North China Fair Gets A Billion Yuan In Investment

HOHHOT, July 27 (Xinhua) -- The '99 Baotou International Investment Fair in Baotou, a major industrial city in Inner Mongolia in north China, has brought in investment contracts worth 1.04 billion yuan (130 million U.S. dollars).

According to city officials, the investors were 120 in number and came from the U.S., Japan, Germany, the Republic of Korea, Canada, Mexico, Denmark, Norway, Switzerland, France, Singapore, as well as Hong Kong and Taiwan of China.

During the five-day fair, the city also signed five export contracts worth over 8 million yuan, the officials said. More than 150 projects were introduced to investors in rare earth development and use, technical renovation of state-owned enterprises, animal husbandry, urban construction, light and chemical industries.
