More Foreign-Funded Enterprises In NE China

HARBIN, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Some 157 foreign-funded enterprises had been approved in Heilongjiang province, northeast China, in the first half of this year, 33 percent more than the figure for the same period last year.

The number of foreign-funded enterprises in the province has grown to 6,000 since 1984, when the first of such enterprises was established in Heilongjiang. Of them, 150 each has an investment of more than 10 million U.S. dollars.

About 65 percent of the enterprises are in manufacturing, while others are in the service business, infrastructure and agriculture.

Of the 157 new foreign-funded enterprises, 117 are funded by Asian countries, and half are equity joint ventures.
