Cloning still to prove itself

A human embryo clone as featured in the journal e-biomed. Advanced Cell Technology Vice President of Research Jose Cibelli announced in a scientific paper published November 25, 2001 that he and other researchers at the company have successfully cloned a human embryo for the purpose of mining stem cells used to treat disease. Cibelli, seen in an undated file photo provided by the Worcester, Massachusetts based bio-technology company, is the first author of the scientific paper which represents the first public announcement that scientists have succeeded in cloning human embryos.
