ICRC Blasts Israeli Murder of Wounded Palestinian Militants

The International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) on Wednesday condemned the previous day's murder of three wounded Palestinian militants by Israeli army.

The killing in the West Bank city of Nablus was a "barbaric and totally unacceptable act," ICRC Director General Paul Groceridir told reporters after his meeting with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat Wednesday evening in Ramallah.

"It is totally unreasonable and barbaric act to deal in such cruelty with wounded people who should receive medical treatment," the official said.

The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and the ICRC accused the Israeli army of executing three Palestinians on Tuesday after they were warned by Israeli soldiers during a shoot-out in Nablus area. An Israeli army officer was killed in the fire exchange.

Meanwhile, Israeli dismissed the Palestinian and ICRC accusations as "baseless lies."

The ICRC will offer the Israeli government a document on the incident in response to a Palestinian request for international investigation, the ICRC chief added.

Citing an Israeli army officer, a member of the Palestinian Committee of Red Crescent also told reporters that six Israeli soldiers formed a ring around the three Palestinians who were still alive after being injured in the shoot-out and shot them dead.
